When attending various events, seminars, or activities as a volunteer or part of the management team, I often encounter a common question: “Bro, how do you find these opportunities?” People often ask me to inform them next time I attend such events. However, it’s essential to understand that it’s not my responsibility to notify you. You have to actively seek out your opportunities. You have to seize them. In today’s generation, you need to be proactive and resourceful. Don’t worry! In this blog, I’ll share some techniques I’ve learned for finding ECA opportunities consistently. Let’s get started!
Turn on your notifications
There are numerous websites, blogs, and news media channels related to opportunities that you can find through search engines. Examples include Youth Opportunity, Opportunity for Youth, etc. Visit these sites and turn on notifications to receive instant alerts when new opportunities arise. You can search on Google using different keywords like volunteering, youth opportunity, seminar, internship, etc. This will lead you to various websites where you can subscribe to their news updates.
Utilize your social media accounts
When you search for your desired keywords on social media platforms, you’ll automatically receive news related to those keywords due to the platform’s algorithm. For instance, if you search for “need volunteer” on Facebook, you’ll come across many recruitment posts for volunteering. After a few days, you’ll start seeing more volunteer opportunities in your news feed. This method is an excellent way to discover opportunities. Make the most of it.
Join social media groups
Every region has numerous community groups for sharing news updates and opportunities. Join these groups to stay updated at all times. Many people share various opportunities in these groups, along with different organizations. You can also turn on group notifications to receive instant alerts whenever someone posts in the group. Joining these groups proves highly beneficial for finding extracurricular activity opportunities.
Follow official social media pages
List down all the organizations in your region or country. Find their official social media accounts and follow them. By doing so, you’ll easily come across any opportunities they post on their social media accounts in your news feed.
Network building
When you start volunteering or engaging in any activity, focus on building a network with others. Establishing strong relationships can lead to more opportunities, as others may recommend you or inform you about various opportunities. Networking is an excellent way to find and participate in different extracurricular activities, as well as to discover job opportunities. Utilize this strategy wisely.
That’s all from my personal experience. Feel free to try out these techniques to discover and build your extracurricular achievements.
